Our wardrobe starts with good basics. When you have the right ones, getting dressed just feels easier. Today I’m sharing basics I wear often, along with a few on my wishlist.
It’s also the last day of the Nordstrom 10 Point Event for Icon and Ambassador shoppers (it ends Sunday, April 12). If you’re an Icon or Ambassador, you can earn 10 points per dollar when you use your Nordstrom card, which adds up to Nordstrom Notes for future purchases.
Jeans
Every outfit starts with good bottoms. I love the Mother Relaxed Kick-It jeans. Plus, the AG Saige is a nice light wash for spring. And if you haven’t tried the Rag & Bone Miramar—the jean that feels like sweatpants—they’re so comfortable and easy to wear. Great for travel, too.
I still love the Paige Anessa in tonal ecru—it’s a favorite jean of my styling friends and fits 9 out of 10 women. Also, the Madewell Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg is a nice alternative to the Anessa. I’m also curious about the Paige Mason—it’s on my wishlist and goes with any shoe.
Tanks + T-Shirts
I love the Nordstrom tank tops—I bought them in three colors and recommend them. It’s also a great time to refresh your t-shirts, like this and this, or a relaxed fit. These are pieces you’ll wear all spring and summer.

Jackets + Light Layers
I’m always looking for jackets that complete a look. If you’ve been eyeing one from Veronica Beard, the 10 Point Event is a great time to get it. These are styles I’ve found to be great lengths for all heights, including petites (I’m 5’2″). I love the Miller blazer in black or navy—it’s a classic. I also wear the Battista in stone all the time with jeans and trousers. The Ryland tweed blazer dresses up any jeans. And I like the mixed media of the Ainslee jacket—it’s on my list.
A trench is a spring basic we all need. I like the Caslon swing trench (it runs big, so size down), the Nordstrom and Barbour jackets are chic options, too. I love the Madewell denim chore jacket—it’s a great length and easy to wear. The round-neck Mother denim jacket has clean, elevated lines and is on my wishlist.

Neutral Shoes + Handbag
I recommend getting neutral shoes that will go with everything. The Dolce Vita Deane is so cute and on my wish list, and the Veronica Beard Via mixed media slide is cute, comfortable, and goes with everything, from jeans to dresses. You might also like the look for less. The Sam Edelman Farrin block heel is so comfortable -I’ve been wearing it with jeans, and I’ll pack it on vacation. Mesh shoes are trending, and the Vionic Alameda is on my wishlist as a comfort style.
Low-profile sneakers are trending, and I recommend having a white or tan pair that goes with all your outfits. The Veronica Beard Riviera is comfortable, runs true to size, and slips on easily. The Rag & Bone Retro sneaker is cute, and the Vince Oasis sneaker is very comfortable—I wore it all through France and Italy. The Marc Fisher Lexxy Mesh sneaker has a designer feel and is so cute.

Rattan Totes +Sunnies
A few bags for you to look at during the 10-point event. I love my Madewell woven tote plus their shoulder bag. The Longchamp is a great day bag with versatile straps. The Chloé bag is a chic classic for shopping or the beach. And these Gucci sunglasses are so cute and on my wishlist. You might also like a look-for-less option.
