What I Wore in Costa Rica + Phoenix: Easy Vacation Outfits

I’m back home for a while after trips to Nosara, Costa Rica, and Phoenix, Arizona, and even though the trips were very different, I kept reaching for the same kinds of pieces—easy dresses, comfortable shorts, and swimwear that worked for both the ocean and the pool.

First, my sister and I went on a yoga retreat, and it was my first trip to Costa Rica. We spent one night at Lagarta Lodge, a gorgeous resort I would definitely go back to for a longer stay, and then headed to the retreat.

The retreat was held at Casa Kismet, a beautiful property with an open-air yoga studio, gym, spa amenities, a pool, daily farm-to-table meals, and easy access to the beach. It was such a special experience.

The second trip was to Phoenix with my husband and friend — part work trip, part fun getaway — and a nice excuse to soak up a little extra sunshine.

Yoga + Meditation Outfits

Here are a few yoga outfits I packed. I wore them all, but honestly, with the high humidity in Costa Rica, I wore shorts and tank tops for most practices (2 a day). The sneakers were a must-have for walks and running on the beach. And the long tights are so comfortable and perfect to wear at home.

The Lululemon bra top is in pink pearl, one of their signature spring colors. You can build an entire active wardrobe around the color.

Shorts Sets

I love this Varley short set. It’s incredibly soft and comfortable. I’m 5’2” and wearing an XS in the top and a small in the bottoms.

I was also surprised by how much I loved the Rhone set. It’s cute, fits true to size, and is the kind of outfit you can wear for pickleball and golf, then straight to lunch after.

Lightweight Pajamas

Like most of us, I love wearing nice pajamas, especially when I travel, and I really loved this set from Papinelle. It’s lightweight, comfortable, doesn’t take up much room in a suitcase, and it’s the cutest print.

I also wore this pretty set by Lake in Phoenix and loved the soft fabric and comfortable fit. I wear a size small in both. It would make a great Mother’s Day gift for yourself, too.

Travel Outfit

This ended up being my go-to travel outfit on both trips — even for a really long 24-hour travel day. The viral Aritzia lodge pants are a linen blend, barely wrinkled, and so easy to wear.

I wore them on the plane, another day exploring, and then again out to dinner. They fit true to size. I’m wearing the regular small for a flowy fit. They are available in short and long lengths, too. I also wore my sneakers so I didn’t take up extra space in my suitcase.

Summer Dresses

The weather was so warm, I was happy to have a few cute, lightweight dresses to wear out to dinner. Here are some of the styles I wore on the trips — and I’ll be wearing them all summer long too.

I always bring along a cardigan or shawl, and I also wear the Wacoal Red Carpet strapless bra underneath, which is one of the most comfortable strapless bras I’ve tried.

This was such a fun dress to wear. It does run a little snug through the bust, so if you’re fuller on top, I would recommend sizing up.

This is the Quince dress I recommend to all my friends. It’s one of those easy dresses you can throw on and instantly feel put together. You can dress it up or down, and it works for so many occasions. I like it so much, I own it in three colors!

This is one of my favorite dresses. It’s just so cute, and I love the style. It’s easy to wear, flattering, and one of those dresses that always makes you feel pretty and put-together.
