I have fond memories of wearing a handmade cable knit vest my mom made for me. I felt stylish wearing it over a white turtleneck, short pleated plaid skirt, and heeled loafers. Ha! Fast forward, the sweater vest has once again emerged onto the fashion scene. I don’t think I will be wearing one with a short skirt, but I will wear it with straight denim.
Vests are classic, versatile, and the perfect transitional piece this season. They provide an extra layer of warmth and offer elements of color, pattern, and design to an outfit. Try layering a vest over a t-shirt, white collared blouse, or a printed tissue-weight turtleneck. If you are feeling adventurous, layer a vest over the top of a dress.
