It’s finally starting to feel like summer in the Pacific Northwest, and I’m looking forward to spending time outside with friends and family. So, to prepare for my activities, I look to my basics, like white denim, cotton tops, and t-shirts to wear to backyard barbeques and trips to the farmer’s market. Below are a few of the basic items we should all have in our wardobe for the summer months.
A trendy white, flare-leg, straight or bootcut denim is a summer staple for every wardrobe. Wear them with t-shirts, sandals, or a dressy top and slides for an evening out. I recommend a few styles of jeans, including the Fidelity Katie, which offers a high-waisted, wide-leg, and frayed hemline. Katie jeans have a lot of stretch and are very comfortable, but make sure you size down as they run big. If you like straight white jeans, the Frame le high straight with a finished hemline is comfortable and has a clean, classic look. Lastly, the Mother Hustler high-waisted bootcut jeans are a stylist’s favorite.
A summer blouse is a must-have for your summer wardrobe. You will be ready for any occasion and look and feel confident.I always look to Rails, Citizen of Humanity, and Veronica Beard for easy-to-wear, carfree tops for summer. More on the traditional side are blouses by Ralph Lauren and Frank & Eileen, but when paired with trendy jeans, you can create a classic cool look.
I always have an extra jacket on hand, and a jean jacket is my choice during the summer when the nights are cool. From cropped to oversize styles, there’s a denim jacket for everyone. Here are a few of my favorites right now.
I’m highlighting sandals that go with many outfits in your wardrobe, Starting with a favorite slide by Schutz and the comfort Sandal by Paul Green. In addition, the Stuart Weitzman sandals always elevate denim or dressy outfits. Plus, Nordstrom is carrying a variety of sandals by Paige, which is exciting since their footwear options are always trending.
