When spring arrives, I always get excited to add new shoe styles to my wardrobe. So when my friend, Drew Elovitz, at the online Publication Who What Wear, asked me about shoe trends, I was ready to share some of my favorite styles essential for spring. If you want to read more, check out the full article here.

Here are seven shoe styles that I think are worth considering and will update your spring wardrobe.

1. Sneakers

I’m a big fan of sneakers and suggest two go-to styles for your spring wardrobe. The first style is a classic white sneaker. They are stylish and timeless and will go with all your outfits. Meanwhile, retro sneakers bring a trendy vibe to your outfits. It’s acceptable and fashionable to wear sneakers with dresses, skirts, trousers, jeans or shorts.

Here are some favorite white sneakers that would make nice additions to any wardrobe. Plus, they’re a great shoe choice to pack when traveling.

Samba Sneakers

You can wear retro sneakers with many outfits, from trousers to skirts. Some of the hottest brands to keep an eye out for include Adidas, New Balance, Nike and Veja. I added the Rag & Bone runner  to my wardrobe for spring. It goes with so many outfits and has a OrthoLite cushioned sole that’s so comfortable. I’ve highlighted some other popular styles that I have my eye on and would make great additions to your wardrobe.

2. Ballet Flats & Mary Janes

Ballet flats are timeless, and the Mary Jane style is trending! Current styles like mesh, embellishments, and metallics are popular and will add interest to any outfit. Here are some new spring options to try. I’m eyeing the Sam Edelman Mary Jane Espadrille to wear with linen pants. I tried them on in the store and they are comfortable and cute!.

3. Slingback Heels

Try wearing a slingback heel. Wear a nude color with dresses to elongate your legs, or wear a metallic to add something special to your outfit. Note: The French Sole Baton Slingback runs small, so I recommend sizing up a half size.

4. Loafers

I love wearing classic loafers which are another spring shoe trend. The Jeffrey Campbell loafer pictured above is a chunkier style and very comfortable. For a classic style, I have three favorites I recommend. The Rag & Bone Carter is my favorite go-to shoe this spring. They are comfortable and look great with cropped and long jeans and trousers. They run big, and I sized down one size. The Gucci Brixton is a splurge shoe that is classic and comfortable. I wore these with jeans and trousers while walking many miles at Nordstrom. It’s an investment shoe you will have in your wardrobe for years. Lastly, I like the Sam Edelman Loraine, which I don’t own but have tried on. It’s a nice-looking shoe, and it’s been a customer favorite.

5. Neutral Colors

When in doubt, I recommend wearing neutral-color shoes; They are wardrobe staples that work with almost every outfit. From beige to tan and cognac, they are versatile and easy to style while also elongating the legs for a flattering look!

6. Slides

Rails dress, cardigan and slide

A slide is a spring shoe trend that is a must-have for your wardrobe. There’s a style for everyone, ranging from sporty flats to elegant heels.

7. Raffia Sandal

Lastly, the beachy raffia sandal is a fun shoe to add to your spring wardrobe. Wear them in the spring with jeans; as the weather gets warmer, wear them with skirts and dresses.
